Updated November 19, 2001
In the information below you will find a brief summary of Server Administrator/Co-Administrator Duties, O-Line Guidelines, our Linking Procedure, and the Server Link Application. Please read this carefully, and be sure to fully complete the application, as incomplete applications are instantly rejected.
NOTE: By submitting an Application, you, your co-administrators, and operators agree to abide by the Network Operator Policy dated November 18, 2001 and as may be amended in the future. You must read and understand all guidelines as stated in that policy prior to submitting your application.
Server Administrator / Co-Administrator Duties
- Maintain your server's IRCd including all c/n/u/o lines. Updates to the IRCd must be in
place within 48 hours of the notification of their availability.
- Add or remove operators on your server as needed and in accordance with the Operator Lines guidelines for Hubs (if applicable) and Leafs. The candidate must be a regular user on your server, and have been present in #Services or #offourmeds for a reasonable length of time to get to know the network and for us to get to know them.
- Notify operlist@exodusirc.com at least 24 hours PRIOR to adding local or global
operators to your server.
- Include their name, e-mail address, and alternate nick.
- A 30-day evaluation period will follow, at which time the operator may be removed if the ServerAdmin or NetAdmin deems their progress insufficient. The oper will be voiced in #Services during the 30 day evaluation period.
- Be familiar with ALL ChanServ/NickServ/MemoServ/WebServ functions and be ready
and willing to assist clients and other operators with matters pertaining to their use.
- Assist clients in #Services as needed.
- Manage the operators who are based on your server. Operators on your server who
misuse privileges or commands or cause interpersonal problems that affect the network overall will reflect on your server.
- Global operators may be promoted to Co-Administrator or replace the Administrator only
with prior knowledge of NetAdmin and only once that person has been a global operator on that server for at least 90 days.
Your server may be juped if the above requirements cannot be fulfilled.
Operator Lines
IRC operators on a server will be added under the following guidelines.
- Operators will be chosen from regular users on your server.
- All potential operators must receive a copy of these guidelines as well as Network Operators Guidelines prior to granting of an operator line.
- All potential operators must attend an oper etiquette-training course.
- The criteria below for Hubs/Leafs must be considered when adding an operator.
Hubs - A hub may only be designated as such by NetAdmin
May have an Administrator and Co-Administrator (IRCd Access may only be granted to the Administrator or Co-Administrator)
1 (one) global operator for those with 30 max. users or less.
1 (one) addition global operator per 10 max. users over 30. (NetAdmins do not count towards your global limit)
Unlimited local operators (Pool to draw from for new globals as your users increase)
Leafs - Any server not specifically designated a hub by NetAdmin
May have an Administrator and Co-Administrator (IRCd Access may only be granted to the Administrator or Co-Administrator)
1 (one) global operator for those with 30 max. users or less.
1 (one) addition global operator per 10 max. users over 30. (NetAdmins do not count towards your global limit)
Unlimited local operators (Pool to draw from for new globals as your users increase)
NetAdmin reserves the right to request removal of any IRC operator that violates policy as stated in this document, the server application, or the operator application.
